Store a moment, display a local time

“9 AM” is incomplete without a date and timezone. Use a precise UTC timestamp for a shared event and display it with an IANA timezone such as America/New_York. A fixed offset like UTC-5 does not express the seasonal rules of that location.

A worked example

15:00 UTC is 10:00 in New York during standard time and 11:00 during daylight saving time. The date determines the applicable rule. A one-hour assumption can therefore shift a scheduled campaign. Always verify the specific date in your audience’s location.

A timezone converter is not a best-time predictor

Audience activity depends on account history, content, geography and the metric you optimize. Convert the time correctly first, then test comparable posting windows using your own results.
